anticipation
building, churning in my stomach
i met her at the top floor of the store
sitting on a window ledge overlooking the world
we sat among the books
tucked away in a little corner
sunlight streaming onto our shoulders
i was only looking at her
we shared stories
laughing over spring green ice cream from a shop down the street
a shop that hadn't been open for a while
not since she'd been there
nervous laughter fills the air
our feet walk as one, avoiding puddles
too scared to meet her eyes
oh how i love the smell of the rain
we end up at the fountain
the great big fountain that begs for the attention of passersby
except we earn their stares
standing at the fountain's center getting soaked by the rain
can you just kiss me already
